Is it likely I will get a waiver from paying back social security?

It took me a little over 1 1/2 yrs and two appeals (my lawyer was worth every penny) to get full Social Security disability. It took two years to get Workman's Comp. I got a lump sum about three months ago. Now Social Security wants me to pay them back over $8,000! I lost EVERYTHING during those two years, had to live in very unhappy cirstances. The workman's comp. enabled me to pay cash for a small house, used pickup truck, and some furnishings. Now that I have no money left, they want me to pay the SS back for the nearly two years?! I got a form to ask for a waiver, but is it likely I'll get it?
